Our Parish Workday this year took place on Saturday 30th May. A hardy band of 18 members of the congregation plus some help from South Woodham Ferrers, worked from eight o’clock in the morning, until seven in the evening to complete an enormous number of maintenance tasks in the church, churchyard and meeting room. Our church now looks better than ever and we are all proud of the results.
The parlous state of Church Green has been a problem for years. In the winter of 2013, the PCC started a process to find a way of stabilising the centre area of the Green and improving the roads, but retaining the grassed areas. The cause of all these problems is the lack of drainage in the grassed areas and water penetration of the worn-out road surface, so providing somewhere for the water to go is the key to improving the area.
The works have now been completed and we are very pleased with the standard to which the new road has been finished to. The centre of the green is still being protected in order allow the grass to take hold. We expect to open it shortly and will keep everyone updated.
Our bi-annual celebration was once again a great success. Raising money for a good cause with a Disney inspired first half and a thundering show of patriotism in the second half with all the proms classics!
Keep tuned for our Christmas services...
